Apple Vision Pro, Next Big Thing on the Gadget Space?

On Monday, May 6, 2023. Apple unveiled a new gadget known as the Apple Vision Pro, a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with the realities of the human world while granting its users the ability to stay present and connect to others.

The gadget creates an infinite canvas for apps that scale beyond the boundaries of a traditional display and introduces a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by natural elements of the human body, the eyes, hands and voice.

The Apple Vision Pro, which happens to be the world’s first spatial operating system, allows the users to interact with digital content that feels like it is real in the physical world and within their reach, means and space.

It has an ultra-high-resolution display system that packs 23 million pixels across two displays, two custom Apple silicon (the M2 and R1 chips) in a unique dual-chip design to ensure every experience feels like it’s taking place in front of the user’s eye in reality.

In a statement by the Apple CEO, Tim Cook expressed his delight as the new gadget is been unveiled.

“Today marks the beginning of a new era for computing, just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, iPhone introduced us to spatial computing, the new Apple vision pro introduces us to a spatial computing”.

He further asserts that the invention is a breakthrough for more innovations and opportunities for developers.

“Vision Pro is years ahead and unlike anything created before with a revolutionary new input system and thousands of groundbreaking innovations.”

“It unlocks credible experiences for our users and exciting new opportunities for our developers.”

The Vice President of Apple’s Technology Development Group, Mike Rockwell said that the gadget is the most advanced personal electronics device ever, a way of merging nothing hardware and software components, “through a tight integration of hardware and software, we designed a standalone spatial computer in a compact wearable form factor that is the most advanced personal electronic device”.

The Apple Vision Pro brings a new dimension to computing by altering the way users interact with their favourite apps.

The three-dimensional interface frees apps from the boundaries of a display, making them appear side by side at any scale.

With two ultra-high-resolution display, Apple vision pro can transform any space into a personal movie theater with a screen that feels 100 feet wide and an advanced spatial audio system.

It was in 2014 that the invention started and on Monday, May 5, 2023, Apple announced Vision Pro. The announcement was made during its Worldwide Developers’ Conference with a price of $3,499.

Immediately after the announcement, Apple stock dropped by 1% after the company unveiled the headset giving up gains from earlier in the day.

With a feature called eyesight, the headset can become transparent or opaque to signal to people around the headset user if they are available to interact. The headset is made to fit different faces, it’s shapes and sizes are adjustable and interchangeable parts.

The launch also opened up a new era of competition between Apple and Meta which develops its own virtual reality headset. Meta disclosed that its latest headset model, Quest 3, would be released later this year.
