Beneficiaries of a three-day free medical outreach for the people of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State are praising the Chairman of the Transition Committee, Uko Umoh for flagging off the programme.

They told Kristina Reports at the LG Council Secretariat in Etinan that the programme, which was flagged off by the Etinan LGA Chairman, Uko Umoh, and will run from Wednesday to Friday, March 20 to 22, 2024, was of great benefits to them.

One of them, Imoh Asagausung said he was admitted and tested and has received his reading eye glasses, stating that his visual challenges are being eased away.

“Let me thank the Chairman of Council for this wonderful idea. I was here early enough and I have received my reading glasses and going through the process. This is life touching.”

Kristina Reports learnt that the free medical outreach, which was sponsored by the Etinan Local Government Council, was organized in collaboration with the National Association of Government General and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP).

Speaking with Kristina Reports on the sidelines of the outreach, the Head of the medical team, Dr. Cyril Essien said the medical outreach is free of any charges and is sponsored by the Local Government Council.

Dr. Essien pointed out that the medical team will diagnose, prescribe drugs, conduct eye test and provide reading eye glasses, conduct minor surgical operation while major ones will be referred to University of Uyo Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.

“There is a limit the local government council can go. So, we write referral letters and send them to where they will be well taken care of.”

Also speaking, the Paramount Ruler of Etinan LGA, His Majesty, King Edidem Aniefiok Akpanobong commended the LG Chairman for his thoughtfulness and concern for the health of his people, urging the people to take advantage of the free medical outreach put together by the Council.

He called on other political gladiators to close ranks with the Chairman and support him as he strives to make Iman Ibom better.

Flagging off the medical outreach, the Chairman, Uko Umoh, said his concern was to help the people get medical attention irrespective of party affiliation.

He charged the medical personnel to attend to the people on the basis of first come first serve so that the people can be accommodated.
