Boat Mishap: There’s Hope for You Because God is Watching – Amadabo Condoles Bereaved Families, Assures of Support

As long as the divine eyes overwatch happenings on earth, the suffering can expect interventions that can transform their misfortunes to situations of joy, the Amadabo of Finima in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, Kongo XVII opines.

Aseme Alabo Brown said this on Thursday, January 11, 2024 when he led a delegation of elders from the Buoye Omuso Brown House of Finima on a condolence visit to families of victims of the recent boat mishap at Amariari Fishing Settlement in Agiokolo II in Finima Community.

The victims of the incident which occurred at the Bonny Anchorage on the Bonny River were residents of Lighthouse, Agiokolo I and Agiokolo II.

“Nothing escapes God and God knows why this kind of thing can happen. God is watching and because God is watching let that one be a hope for you. As long as God is watching there is hope. There is hope.”

“Where he removes something he puts something or where the enemy has taken something he will replenish it and make it up because we have hope in God.”

He expressed sorrow over the unfortunate incident which claim the lives of six women and five children, saying that news of the incident caused so much pain for the Finima Community leadership spurring the need to visit and commiserate with them.  

“Even though we got the information late, as landlords, we need to come and show sympathy and empathy. We feel the pain of the information we heard. We just want to continue to look unto God.”

“Your story is very pathetic. I am touched. We, as leaders of the community, are touched. The story touched everywhere. We cannot hear this kind of story and keep quiet.”

“We want to say we are sorry for what has happened but always remember that there is God. Just look at God and say God you are watching.

“We are sorry. We come as a team, being the leaders of this community, to say we are sorry, we share the pain.”

He promised that the Finima Community would find ways of supporting the bereaved families to find their feet again and recover fully from the trauma of the incident that caused them so much loss and pain.

“We will contact you one on one and see what kind of support the house and community can render you in this time of your very strong grief.”

“We are sorry. We come as a team, being the leaders of this community, to say we are sorry, we share the pain.”

Aseme Alabo Brown, who is also the Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Finima, promised that the Finima Community would find ways of supporting the bereaved families to find their feet again and recover fully from the trauma of the incident that caused them so much loss and pain.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Finima Capacity Development Committee (FCDC), Owuna Fenibo had informed the people that the leadership of Finima Community were in Agiokolo II to condole with the bereaved families and residents of the area over the unfortunate incident.

One of the survivors and owner of the capsized boat, Promise Festus Ayayi thanked the Amadabo and his entourage for the visit, noting that this was in consonance with God’s admonition for humans to support each other especially in times of distress.

“This is how it is supposed to be; when something happens to your brother, you come and give him confidence. You carry him on your back as God has said, one support one, in time of trouble, in time of distress. Thank you very much for this visit.”

In the entourage of the Amadabo of Finima during the visit were members of the Buoye Omuso Brown Council of Wari-Alapu; Warialabo Tuwonimi Iyariari, Warialabo Amoni Hart-Brown, Warialabo Vincent Brown, and Asawo Sibidabo; Warisenibo Igbiwari Brown.

Others were the Chairman, Finima Security Committee; Ala Hart, Chairman and Secretary, Finima Development Committee (FDC); Sunny Jack-Brown and Ibianga Brown, PhD, respectively, and Kiri Daapu of Lighthouse, Agiokolo 1 and 2, Agaja and Dogokiri; Sodienye Brown, Awotamuno Joshua, Sunny Brown, Innocent Hart and Richard Brown, respectively.
