LG Chairman Sues for Partnership on Education, as OCDF, NLNG Donate Furniture to Schools in Okrika

The Okrika Local Government Council, alongside the Okrika Cluster Development Foundation (OCDF) and the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) have agreed to partner on educational development of communities in the LGA.

Chairman of Okrika LGA, Akuro Tobin gave this indication while speaking as special guest of honour at the handover ceremony of 300 benches and tables to six schools in the LGA by the OCDF and its joint partner, Nigeria LNG GMOU in Okrika, Rivers State.

Chairman of the OCDF Board of Trustees, Chief Ayika Daminabo, and NLNG’s Manager, Community Affairs and Sustainable Development, Charles Epelle presented the donated furniture to the Okrika LGA Boos, who was represented by the Supervisor for Education, Nemi Ajubo.

The beneficiaries include State Primary School, Ibaka; State Primary School, Ogbogbo; Boys Primary School, Okrika; Ogoloma Town School, Ogoloma; State Primary School, Ogan-Ama; and State Primary School, Okochiri.

Akuro assured OCDF and NLNG that his administration would continue to create an enabling environment for strategic partnerships to coalesce and support programmes and activities of the Foundation.

Expressing his gratitude to the OCDF and NLNG for the donations and supporting communities through the GMOU, the Okrika LGA boss stated that his administration has earmarked infrastructure resuscitations in schools both primary and secondary where urgent attention is needed.

He expressed optimism that the donated items would go a long way in upgrading the standard of learning in the beneficiary schools, advising headmasters and headmistresses of those schools to focus distribution of the items on classrooms in dire need of them.

He urging them to always encourage the pupils to take their academics seriously, noting that education remains the bedrock of development.

Responding, the head teachers of the various schools jointly appreciated the Okrika LGA Chairman, as well as the OCDF and their joint partners, NLNG GMOU for the support, assuring them that they will do all within their power to make academics thrive and bring out the best in the students.
