Ashden is an international organisation in United Kingdom focused on promoting the walk towards achieving a just climate transition.

Through its awards, it aims to recognize climate champions, raise awareness of the huge potential of local sustainable energy to tackle climate change and improve the quality of people’s lives and the environment.

During the awards ceremony which held in London last week, Buradum while receiving his award narrated a horrible experience he encountered that sparked his interest in solar energy, stating the heights they’ve attained over the years.

“Living in Nigeria can be very, very difficult; you have limited access to electricity and high rate of unemployment. I remember one of those days when I graduated from school that I lost the opportunity to work in a multinational company because my phone battery was dead due to power outage in my area for seven straight days. So, this motivated me to start Burasolutions Energy to make a difference”.

“But then the most exciting part of my work is “solafrique.com”: this is an ecommerce platform we have created where our trainee’s leverage on to get solar jobs.”

“We have now trained 300 persons in the clean energy space many of whom have secured employment in other organizations while those with entrepreneurial spirits we have helped to set up Businesses for them.”

“We have a goal of training about 3000 persons over the next 5 years hence we need your support to achieve that. We need technical partnership, advance training and financial investments to promote what we do because we believe that everyday we train someone with a green skill moves us a step further in achieving a greener and cleaner future for us all”.

“I want to thank the Ashden team for their incredible work in recognizing efforts made towards achieving a just transition”.

The award had 8 categories out of which the young Ogoni lad won the Powering Futures in Clean Energy category.

The winners were handed trophies, grants and global publicity while also presenting them to funders and investors.
