The University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State held a joint convocation comprising 14,866 graduands drawn from the 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 academic sessions.

The convocation took place from Thursday, November 9 to Saturday, November 11 2023 had a total of 14,866 graduates across the three years and various degrees.

Bachelor’s degree graduands numbering a total of 11,795 held their convocation on Thursday, November 9; while the 2,197 Master’s degree and Postgraduate Diploma graduates convocated on Friday, November 10; while the 475 Doctorate degree graduates held theirs on Saturday, November 11.

Held at the 1,000 capacity hall at the institution’s main campus, Nwaniba, the 26th, 27th and 28th convocation ceremonies had in attendance, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, his Deputy, Akon Eyakenyi, and Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, amongst other dignitaries.

The Vice Chancellor in his speech, congratulated the graduates and implored them to be on their best behavior as they conclude their academic journey, bearing in mind that they are ambassadors of the University.

“May I use this opportunity to congratulate all graduates, parents, guardians and indeed all of us for this great achievement. I urge and pray that you all remain good tools of blessings to your family, community, University of Uyo, Nigeria and the world at large.”

“In all your dealings remember that you are ambassadors of the University of Uyo. Therefore, continue to fly the flag of the University well.”

The Governor also congratulated the graduates, stating that he is an alumnus of the school and as such he can bear witness to the fact that it is an exceptional place of learning.

He also assured the management of the Institution that his administration will continually partner with the school to ensure accessible education for residents.

“We will support them, because education is one of the pillars of our Arise Agenda and we will continue to demonstrate good faith working with you as much as possible.”
