We Shall Install, Present Our Chief and Head in Line with Ibani Custom, Tradition – Dan-Jumbo House

The Dan-Jumbo Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom says the installation and subsequent presentation of its Chief and Head to the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom will be consistent with the time-tested and agelong tradition and custom of the Ibani ethnic nationality.

Acting Secretary of the House, Tamuno Dan-Jumbo said this on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.

“Our ancestor, Dan Jene is well known for his penchant for keeping with the tradition and custom of the Ibani nation; we, his descendants cannot deviate from that legacy, from that heritage. It is a thing of honour for us, the Dan Jene family of Bonny Kingdom.”

“We are informing the whole spectrum of the Ibani ethnic nationality that after several years’ interregnum, the Dan Jene family is set to install its Chief and Head. This will take place at our ancient country home, Dan-Jumbo Community.”

“After that, in line with Ibani custom and tradition, we will carry him in our Gigi to Bonny where we will present him to our dear father and great monarch, King Edward I, King Perekule XI, the Natural Ruler and Amanyanabo of ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom.”

“We’re very intentional about this. Our elders have been in constant consultation with the King, the Chiefs Council and other key stakeholders on this matter and it promises to be a great occasion where the Ibani tradition and custom will be on display.”

He called on all Bonny people at home and in the Diaspora to watch out for the date of the two events and plan to attend, asserting that the forthcoming event is “a glorious one and no one should be left behind”.

Reacting to an online publication on the event, Dan-Jumbo stated that “we are aware of the antics of some persons to scuttle the memorable event and do not wish to accord such any relevance”.

“We don’t want to join issues with any one on this matter, nor give undue relevance to the overzealous person who has done this. But I am aware and the planning committee for the ceremony is aware that the Chief-Elect is at a loss as to how this card, which is a work in progress, got out to the public. It has not been approved by the Chiefs Council, so, we couldn’t have put it out.”

“Our dear fathers, the Chiefs of this great Kingdom know that if there is any House that would make mistakes as to its chieftaincy installation and presentation to His Majesty, it is not the Dan-Jumbo House. And that’s as much as I would say on the matter.”

He informed that there is excitement and bated anticipation across the broad spectrum of the Dan-Jumbo Chieftaincy House with members of the family anxiously waiting for the details of the event, adding that “you can feel the excitement, I am happy, my family members are happy that we’re getting a Chief soonest”.
