At a time when the Church in Nigeria was systematically being obliterated by targeted attacks on churches, Christian communities, and individual believers, Ezekiel Dachomo, a Plateau State-based cleric of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), has become one of the boldest defenders of persecuted Christians in Nigeria.
His videos and eyewitness reports from Plateau and neighbouring states exposed scenes of mass burials and burned villages, sparking both outrage at home and renewed global attention on the country’s wave of sectarian killings.

In one widely shared recording, Dachomo declared that if ever kidnapped, no ransom should be paid for his release, insisting that his blood would “raise war” for the liberation of Christians.
That fearless statement, paired with his on-ground documentation of attacks, quickly went viral and drew international media coverage.
Within days, advocacy groups in the United States, human rights monitors, and prominent lawmakers began referencing the Plateau footage while demanding action to stop what many have called an ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria.
The mounting attention soon reached the corridors of power in Washington. President Donald Trump, already outspoken about global religious persecution, condemned the killings and ordered an inquiry into the situation.

He directed Nigerian officials to review the country’s human rights record, checkmate the killings and annihilate terrorism, as well as reinstated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over violations of religious freedom.
The announcement triggered strong reactions from Abuja, Nigeria’s seat of power but also drew applause from faith communities worldwide, who viewed it as a long-awaited recognition of the plight of Christians across Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
Although Dachomo may not have acted alone, many observers agree that his bravery and unfiltered videos gave a face to the tragedy.
His advocacy transformed the suffering of remote villages into images that could no longer be ignored by international leaders.
Local clergy credit him for turning grief into global awareness, saying his courage forced both Nigerian and foreign officials to confront uncomfortable truths about targeted violence and the state’s failure to protect its citizens.

Human rights experts caution, however, that while the outcry has intensified diplomatic pressure, real change will depend on continued investigation, justice for victims, and tangible security reforms.
For now, Ezekiel Dachomo stands as a symbol of faith under fire, a fearless man of God whose truth-telling helped push a silent crisis onto the world stage and reminded humanity that silence, in the face of bloodshed, is never an option.
