Nollywood’s holiday season is about to sparkle brighter as acclaimed director Niyi Akinmolayan prepares to release his latest feature film, Colours of Fire, a visually captivating period drama set to hit cinemas on December 24, 2025.
Produced by FilmOne Studios in collaboration with Anthill Studios, and distributed exclusively by FilmOne Entertainment, Colours of Fire has already become one of the most anticipated Christmas releases in Nigeria.

The film promises an emotional and cultural experience, mixing love, sacrifice, and human resilience in a story that mirrors the colours and chaos of the festive season.
Starring award-winning actress Osas Ighodaro and Nollywood favorite Uzor Arukwe, the film features a stellar lineup that also includes Mercy Aigbe, Gabriel Afolayan, Femi Branch, and Ibrahim Chatta.
Together, they bring to life a narrative that explores how rivalry and romance can ignite consequences that reshape destinies.
Although producers have kept full plot details under wraps, the teaser trailer hints at a story of two rivals whose unexpected bond triggers a chain of events threatening an entire empire.
It’s a powerful blend of passion, ambition, and redemption, all wrapped in the warmth of Christmas storytelling.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the film, director Niyi Akinmolayan described Colours of Fire as a love letter to Nigerian identity and creativity.
“I wanted to create a film that felt like home but looked like the world, a story that captures our essence: bold, colourful, and unapologetically Nigerian,”
Akinmolayan said.
The project also marks another milestone for FilmOne Studios, known for championing high-quality, commercially successful Nigerian productions.
According to Kene Okwuosa, Group CEO of Filmhouse Group, the movie represents a new era in the industry’s storytelling and visual craft.
“This film is bold, heartfelt, and technically refined. It’s the kind of story Nollywood needs right now, something that connects emotionally and visually,”
Okwuosa noted.
The first look and teaser released online have sparked excitement, with audiences praising the chemistry between Ighodaro and Arukwe and the film’s striking cinematography.

The visuals, filled with rich textures and festive ambience, promise an immersive cinema experience fit for the season.
Industry watchers believe Colours of Fire could dominate Nigeria’s Christmas box office, as it arrives amid growing competition for holiday releases.
Its combination of a powerful story, an award-winning cast, and a visionary director positions it as a potential game-changer for Nollywood’s festive film tradition.
As anticipation builds, Colours of Fire stands not just as another film but as a statement, proof that Nigerian cinema continues to evolve, blending artistic depth with technical precision.
The fire will be lit this Christmas, and Nollywood audiences are ready to feel its warmth in full colour.
