2027: ADC’s George Banigo Unveils Development Agenda for Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency, Promises Accessible Representation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, George “Ajay” Banigo, has unveiled a development-focused legislative agenda, promising accessible representation, economic opportunities, improved infrastructure and stronger protection of the interests of his constituents.

Banigo, who is seeking election to the House of Representatives, told Kristina Reports on Monday, November 2, 2026 in Bonny, Rivers State, that he is targeting jobs, youth empowerment, healthcare, infrastructure, security and accountable leadership.

He said his ambition is driven by the need to build a stronger Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency where residents can access opportunities, enjoy improved living conditions and participate meaningfully in economic development.

Presenting his campaign agenda under the theme “A Trusted Character for Degema-Bonny,” the ADC candidate pledged to prioritise honesty, transparency, integrity and responsive leadership, declaring that his administration would be defined by results rather than excuses.

According to him, effective representation must go beyond occupying a seat in the National Assembly to ensuring that the concerns, aspirations and development needs of constituents receive sustained legislative attention.

Banigo promised to champion policies and programmes capable of attracting investments, stimulating economic activities, creating employment opportunities and empowering businesses across Degema and Bonny Local Government Areas.

On education and youth development, he pledged support for improved learning opportunities, skills acquisition and empowerment initiatives designed to equip young people with the knowledge and competencies required to become economically productive.

The ADC candidate also identified healthcare as a priority, promising to advocate for accessible, affordable and effective medical services, alongside improvements in healthcare facilities serving communities across the constituency.

In addressing infrastructure deficits, Banigo outlined plans to pursue better roads, transportation systems, electricity, potable water, drainage networks and functional flood-control measures, particularly in communities grappling with inadequate public amenities.

He further pledged to support legislative and collaborative measures aimed at strengthening security, protecting lives and property, and promoting peaceful coexistence across the constituency’s riverine and mainland communities.

Emphasising his commitment to accessibility, Banigo assured constituents that his style of representation would encourage direct engagement, continuous consultation and responsiveness to community concerns.

“Mine will be leadership you can always reach,” he declared, reinforcing his promise to maintain an open relationship with the people he seeks to represent.

Banigo maintained that his political ambition is anchored on three objectives: building a constituency where everyone can thrive, delivering measurable results and serving with honesty, transparency and integrity.

His campaign proposals place employment, education, healthcare, infrastructure and security at the centre of his electoral message, although specific implementation timelines, funding arrangements and legislative strategies have yet to be detailed.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, Banigo’s proposals add to the emerging debate over the quality of federal representation and the development priorities of the Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency.

“Together, we can build a greater Degema-Bonny. The time is now. The choice is ours,” the ADC candidate declared, appealing for public consideration of his vision for the constituency.
