36,000 Persons Benefit from Rivers State Health Programme, Enrollees to Enjoy Access from September 1
The Rivers State Government says 36,000 persons enrolled into its Basic Health Providers Fund (BHCPF) under its Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), which covers the 23 local government areas of the State, are set to access care by Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Acting Executive Secretary of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Vetty Agala disclosed this on Thursday, August 29, 2024 while declaring open a 7-Day Capacity Building Training for primary health care providers under the RIVCHPP in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Agala said that the second phase of enrolment into the Basic Health Providers Fund (BHCPF) of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), began in July, 2024 with access to care set for Sunday, September 1, 2024.
He explained that the training is to prepare the health care providers with requisite tools and the right frame of mind in dealing with the new set of enrollees that will be utilising their health facilities.
The RIVCHPP acting Executive Secretary further explained that the training will enable them to implement the BHCPF in their facilities, noting that it is crucial for the primary health care and health insurance gateway to be in sync in order to achieve Governor Siminialayi Fubara’s ‘Health for all Rivers people’ vision.
He asserted that the Governor’s vision is being driven by the strategic leadership of the State Commissioner for Health, Adaeze Oreh.
Agala also used the medium to call on Ward Development Committee (WDC) chairmen, the heads of facilities, nurses in charge of maternities and health information officers to take the training seriously in order to understand how well to manage enrollees and documents appropriately.
The RIVCHPP Acting Executive Secretary thanked Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) for their collaboration in the training.
