Job seekers in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja can now smile as the Abuja Industrial Park has been projected to generate over 40,000 jobs as well as boost the nation’s economy.
Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, made this known on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, when he visited the construction site at Idu Industrial Zone, Abuja.
He explained that the Park, which is currently under construction by the Zeberced Group, “will take the country’s economy to a new level as the Federal Government has made plans to invest its resources to ensure that the project reaches its full potential”.
The Minister, who was highly impressed by the rapid progress of the construction, mentioned that he would personally update President Tinubu on how well the project is advancing, adding that the Park will solve one of the major issues plaguing the country: unemployment.
He went on to express his gratitude to the Federal Government for supporting the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) throughout the initiation and now the construction of the park.
He affirmed that the Federal Government is committed to the growth of its young people by consistently seeking opportunities to provide them with gainful employment, thereby improving their lives.
“For what I envisage, the industrial park is going to create for than 40,000 direct employment. There is no government that will not support this kind of project. Having gone round, I can testify that this is what we need to grow our economy.”
“As far as I am concerned, I have never seen this in the entire country. this is the first time I have seen this.”
Wike also praised the construction company, Zeberced Group, for the excellent work they have done so far, noting that the firm utilized only locally made products for the project, applauding it for its efforts, while encouraging it to continue striving for even better results.
“For us it is quality, and we thank God that we have some companies that are committed to making sure that they produce in Nigeria.”
The Minister expressed optimism about the project, stating that its completion would bring significant development to the Idu District.
