Abuja Police Crack Down on Criminal Activities Amid Growing Public Concerns
In response to increasing reports of criminal activities, including ‘one chance’ robberies and vehicle theft, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Abuja has intensified its operations to ensure public safety.
The campaign involves heightened patrols and targeted enforcement actions across known hotspots in the capital.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the operation, emphasizing the force’s commitment to curbing such crimes and restoring citizens’ confidence in public safety.
This effort follows a directive from the FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, who also ordered the immediate impoundment of vehicles operating without proper registration or plate numbers and is part of broader initiatives to address lawlessness and improve security within the city.
Residents have widely welcomed this proactive approach, though some have expressed concerns about the enforcement’s potential impact on daily commuters.
Sanusi, a motorist who spoke to Kristina Reports expressed his gratitude to the police for increasing the number of checkpoints and patrol points within the city, particularly at the Area One flyover axis.
“Yes, I noticed that there has been an increase in the number of checkpoints in the town, especially, in the night.”
“I am grateful for the Police at Area One especially because the police used to be there one time but they left. I don’t know why.”
“But in the past week every time I pass there around 8 pm I see the police there, and because of that too there has been hold up there recently. I believe that it will help reduce the crime there.”
Zuliyat also expressed happiness at the fact that there is now a lot of police presence along the Lugbe road because she has been involved in one chance multiple times on that road and there was no one to save her.
“If the police were there maybe those people would not have beaten me and taken away all my money and my phone.”
“I am happy that there is now Police everywhere on that road so that they will prevent all these one-chance people from carrying out their wickedness.”
The police assured that measures are being implemented responsibly to minimize disruptions while achieving their goals.
