BIRC Faults Prezicon, PFL Over Delay in Deploying Bonny Community Candidates

The Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC) has expressed concern over what it described as the prolonged delay by Prezicon and PFL Engineering Services Limited in deploying community candidates shortlisted for employment on the ongoing shutdown project.

In a statement, BIRC said several community candidates who completed the recruitment, shortlisting and clearance processes as far back as July were yet to be deployed or provided with clear information on the status of their engagement.

The recruitment centre alleged that while the shortlisted community candidates were still awaiting deployment, candidates engaged under company quota continued to receive employment opportunities, a situation it described as unfair and inconsistent with the principles of transparency, equity and inclusive community participation.

BIRC called on Prezicon and PFL Engineering Services Limited to urgently explain the reasons for the delay and take immediate steps to deploy all duly shortlisted community candidates who have completed the required recruitment and clearance processes.

The organisation said the issue should not be viewed in isolation, stressing that its position also applies to all other companies operating within the project scope and engaging workers from or for projects in the Bonny community.

According to BIRC, companies operating within the project area are expected to respect established recruitment processes and ensure that qualified community candidates are given fair consideration for available employment opportunities.

BIRC subsequently set Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10, 2026, as the deadline for the affected community candidates to resume work, while urging the companies concerned to conclude all outstanding deployment arrangements within the period.

The development highlights the continuing importance of transparent local-content and community employment mechanisms in major industrial projects in Bonny, where access to project-related jobs remains a significant issue for residents and community stakeholders.
