BIRC Secures Promat Partnership to Train, Absorb 30 Bonny Community Insulators

The Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC) has secured a partnership with Promat Coating Company Limited to train 30 community members in industrial insulation and absorb them as insulators after a one-month training programme scheduled to begin in November 2026.

Chairman of BIRC, Adawari Julius Jumbo, disclosed this via a statement by the Centre’s Public Relations Officer, Godswill Hart, stating that this was the outcome of strategic engagements between BIRC and the management of Promat Coating Company Limited.

According to him, the initiative marks another step in BIRC’s sustained drive to bridge industry skills gaps and move Bonny indigenes and residents into semi-skilled and technical jobs through targeted training, certification and employment opportunities.

He further disclosed that under the arrangement, Promat is expected to absorb the 30 beneficiaries as insulators upon completion of the one-month training programme, subject to the applicable completion and certification requirements.

He asserted that the company, as programme sponsor, will fully fund both the training and third-party certification, which is scheduled to commence in November 2026, and as the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

BIRC said as it intensifies drive to bridge local skills gaps and open pathways to technical employment, this partnership builds on BIRC’s strategy of engaging companies to look beyond immediate recruitment needs and invest in developing a local workforce.

“A workforce that is equipped with skills required by industry by linking training to an employment pathway, the initiative aims to help community members gain practical competencies and improve their prospects in the labour market.”

BIRC commended the company’s Community Liaison Officer (CLO), Christopher Jumbo, and its management for embracing the initiative and supporting efforts to address skills gaps among community members.

The centre’s approach, demonstrated through its engagements with industry partners, is focused on sourcing opportunities, negotiating local participation and helping residents acquire relevant skills to compete for jobs in Bonny’s industrial and energy sectors.

The planned training represents a further opportunity to translate community engagement into practical workforce development, with the expected absorption of the beneficiaries offering a direct route from skills acquisition to employment.
