El-Kanemi Warriors will do battle against Dadjè FC d’Aplahoué of Benin in the CAF Confederation Premilinary rounds on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne by 16:00 WAT.

The Aliyu Zubairu-led side who secured a place in the Confederation Cup by defeating Abia Warriors 2–0 in the President Federation Cup, are set to make a return to continental football after a 32-year hiatus. The Warriors have had two appearances on the continent, in the CAF Cup Winners Cup in 1992 and 1993, where they exited in the first round and semi-finals, respectively.

The newly promoted Maiduguri-based side is faced with the task of navigating top-flight football in the Nigeria Premier Football League, as well as thriving on the continent. If El-Kanemi warriors advance from the first preliminary round, they will face an even bigger task of defeating former champions RS Berkane of Morocco.

As one of two Nigerian teams competing in the CAF Confederation Cup this season, a victory over Dadje FC would mark an important first step towards a successful and long-awaited campaign.
