GRAMMY-nominated recording artist Chris Redding has released Unspoken Psalms, a seven-track instrumental album inspired by his relationship with his non-speaking autistic son, Christian.
The project was released on Monday, August 17, 2026, and runs for about 30 minutes, with all seven tracks built around instrumental arrangements rather than conventional lyric-driven songwriting.
The album includes “Through Time,” “Breath Of Fresh Air,” “Sound Of Rain,” “Starlight,” “In The Breeze,” “Epic Winds” and “The Power.”
Several international musicians contributed to the project, with the album incorporating different instrumental textures to create an atmosphere centred on reflection, stillness and communication without spoken words.
Redding’s creative direction grew from his experience observing how Christian responded to sound, rhythm, repetition, frequency and different musical environments.
The experience previously inspired The Colors In My Mind, a GRAMMY-nominated project featuring Christian and recognised as the first Grammy-nominated album to feature a non-speaking autistic individual.
With Unspoken Psalms, Redding continues to explore how music can provide another form of connection where conventional verbal communication may not be the primary means of expression.
“Christian changed my understanding of what music could be,” Redding said.
He explained that his original motivation was personal rather than commercial, as he searched for another way to communicate with his son.
“I started this journey trying to find another way to communicate with my son,” Redding said.
“It made me realise that listening, expression and connection don’t always require words,” he added.
The album has also appeared on Amazon’s New Age Best Sellers chart, while Redding’s wider body of work continues to explore what he describes as NeuroArts, sensory experiences and music beyond conventional entertainment.
His compositions incorporate meditative arrangements, atmospheric instrumentation and intentional sonic elements, including music built around frequencies such as 528 Hz.
Redding has also taken the sensory dimension of his work into live programming, presenting music and family-focused sensory activities at Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center during its Art + Mind Day in August 2026.
His wider work has extended into fitness and listening environments, including appearances on Peloton and UFC Ultimate Sound, as well as a collaboration with Unyte Health involving its listening ecosystem.
Redding has maintained that his music should not be presented as medical treatment, instead framing the work around connection, sensory experience, creativity and wellbeing.
Despite the growing recognition around his music, Unspoken Psalms remains rooted in the personal experience that changed Redding’s understanding of communication.
The seven-track album therefore presents an instrumental account of a father’s continuing search for connection with his son through sound rather than spoken language.
