The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Bonny (FOB BONNY), has witnessed a leadership transition which has seen Captain Emmanuel Fingesi take over Command from Commodore Maksum Mohammed as Commanding Officer.

The handing and taking over process, which lasted for three days, climaxed on Friday, February 14, 2025 at FOB in Bonny, Rivers State.

A former Commander of the Special Boat Service (SBS), Cdre Maksum Mohammed, who took over command from his predecessor, Cdre Reginald Adoki, in February 2024, is handing over command to Navy Captain Fingesi.

He leaves behind a track record of exceptional performance in coordinating strategic security operations that were key to assuring security in Bonny LGA, adjoining communities and the Gulf of Guinea corridor.

Some of the highpoints of his tour of duty at FOB BONNY include the rescue of 20 passengers from sea pirates’ attack when the outboard engine powering the speedboat they were traveling in failed along the Bonny-Port Harcourt sea route.

They were promptly rescued by a patrol team led by Cdre Mohammed and conveyed to Bonny Island and reconciled with their families.

He has also personally led several operations that saw to the destruction of illegal artisanal refining of crude oil sites as well neutralizing pipeline vandals around FOB BONNY’s area of operations.
