In a bold push to expand women’s access to income-generating assets and boost local manufacturing, the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has empowered 100 women in Rivers State with brand-new tricycles under its flagship Queen Riders initiative.
The launch event, held at Elekahia Stadium in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday June 25, 2025, is part of a nationwide rollout targeting 3,700 women, at least 100 in every state and the Federal Capital Territory enabling them to own and operate tricycles through a structured, credit-backed repayment scheme.

Managing Director of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba noted the scheme is more than Mobility but a means of empowerment for the women.
“This is more than mobility. It is empowerment, these tricycles represent ownership, autonomy, and agency for women delivered through affordable credit and made right here in Nigeria. We are solving for household dignity and industrial growth at the same time.”

The initiative falls under CREDICORP’s S.C.A.L.E programme (Securing Consumer Access for Local Enterprises), linking creditworthy Nigerian consumers to the country’s manufacturing value chain.
Through partnerships with Gamma Mobility, Simba TVS (a local manufacturer producing over 1,100 tricycles daily), and financial institutions like ACCION Microfinance Bank, the Queen Riders scheme empowers women while stimulating domestic production and job creation.
Speaking at the event, Chief Operating Officer of Gamma Mobility, Samuel Esiri said: “With the right transport means, women can drive Nigeria’s urban transport sector. We thank CREDICORP for their consistent support and vision.”
Executive Director at CREDICORP, Nike Kolawole described the empowerment as “a thing of joy,” noting the repayment discipline shown by the women.
“They’ve been cooperative and committed paying their loans as and when due. This is what financial inclusion looks like.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to widen economic opportunities for women and young Nigerians is the driving force behind this initiative, according to CREDICORP.
“This is the kind of intentional partnership that delivers real change,” added Nwagba, acknowledging the contributions of Gamma Mobility, Simba TVS, and ACCION.
One of the beneficiaries, ThankGod Chidinma, could not hide her excitement.
“CREDICORP has brought smiles to our faces. I am proud and encouraged to keep moving forward.”
The Queen Riders program is part of CREDICORP’s broader national vision to enable half of Nigeria’s working population by 2030 through access to consumer credit across sectors like transportation, clean energy, and youth enterprise. Other programs under this umbrella include YouthCRED, and C.A.L.M, each focused on enabling Nigerians with the tools and capital needed to thrive.
