The Deadline Day drama is over, and Brighton have officially secured their man. Femi Azeez has completed his move to the Premier League, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Albion after an intense race against the clock to finalize the paperwork.
The Seagulls submitted a late deal sheet ahead of the 11 PM cutoff to grant a two-hour extension, eventually wrapping up the undisclosed fee with Millwall before the 1 AM cutoff.
The 25-year-old winger becomes the latest Nigerian talent to land on the South Coast, linking up with international teammate Zadok Yohanna, who arrived at the club in June.
Albion Sporting Director Mike Cave expressed his delight after securing the attacker’s signature:
“We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role as they finished in the playoffs.
He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re thrilled to have agreed on his transfer. We look forward to working with him.”
Azeez’s journey to the top flight is a story of raw persistence. After early youth spells at Watford, he earned his stripes in non-league football with Northwood, Wealdstone, and Hanwell Town before securing a move to Reading in 2019.
He then joined the Lions in 2024, going on to rack up 77 appearances, 15 goals, and 13 assists at The Den.
His stellar form last term earned him a spot in both the PFA and EFL Championship Teams of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign.
That sensational club form quickly translated to the international stage with the Super Eagles.
Azeez announced himself on his senior debut in June, netting both goals in a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe before setting up another in a 3-0 win against Jamaica just four days later.
Now, the dynamic winger takes his talents to the highest level with the Seagulls.
