As Christians across the world mark Easter, the immediate past Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, has used the season to reflect on her time in office, urging the people of Bonny to uphold peace, unity, and community spirit.
In her Easter message on Friday, April 18, 2025, Dame Claude-Wilcox described the celebration as a reminder of sacrificial leadership, unwavering hope, new beginnings, and essential values she said defined her administration.

She connected the essence of Easter to the principles that guided her tenure; namely selflessness, equity, and a commitment to the collective good.
“Easter is a powerful reminder that love and sacrifice can transform communities, I’ve worked with this mindset, believing that through unity and compassion, Bonny could rise to greater heights.”
According to the ex-LG Council boss, under her leadership, Bonny LGA witnessed visible strides in social welfare, access to basic services, grassroots inclusion, while projects focused on education, healthcare, and youth empowerment were rolled out with a people-first approach, one she says is still needed today.
She further urged residents to reflect on the true meaning of Easter by promoting peace in their homes and neighbourhoods.
“Peace must remain our shared goal. It is the bedrock of any thriving society. I call on all sons and daughters of Bonny to let this season inspire us to forgive, reconcile, and work together for a stronger future”.
Dame Claude-Wilcox, remains a respected figure in Bonny’s political and social space. Her Easter message struck a chord with many who continue to view her tenure as a period of impactful leadership and inclusive governance.
She concluded by calling on leaders at all levels to govern with humility and purpose, saying, “Just as Easter brings renewal, let us renew our commitment to serve with integrity and love.”
