Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) to be patriotic and selfless in their service to the nation by leaving “enduring legacies in their host communities.”
Governor Fubara made the charge on Wednesday August 26, 2026, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area, during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B stream II orientation for Corps Members deployed to the state.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, office of the Secretary to the State Government, Promise Oguzie, Fubara reminded the Corps Members that they “owe Nigerians the responsibility of serving with integrity, commitment and dedication” in order to build a nation of the collective dreams of all citizens.”
He concluded by assuring them of his administration’s intentional effort to make their welfare and security a top priority and further charged them to give their “very best” in serving the good people of the state.
Meanwhile in his farewell speech, the Rivers State Coordinator of NYSC, Moses Oleghe, passionately appealed to the governor to approve the release of funds for the immediate commencement of the building of the 1000-capacity hostel each, for male and female Corps Members at the camp.
He advised the Corps Members to see the service year as a “time to develop their skills and gain insights that will shape their future.”
Kristina Reports gathered that a total of 3344 Corps Members made up of 1357 males and 1987 females successfully completed the orientation course.
