Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the state’s ₦1.854 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, following its passage by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The Governor assented to the bill at the Government House on Thursday September 3, 2026 shortly after receiving the officially passed legislation from the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule.
The ceremony was witnessed by members of the State House of Assembly, Deputy Governor, members of the State Executive Council and other government officials and dignitaries.
The ₦1,854,248,734,475.76 appropriation, tagged the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” sets out the financial framework for the implementation of the state government’s programmes and projects throughout the 2026 fiscal year.
A substantial portion of the budget is dedicated to capital development, with priority given to critical areas including infrastructure, education, healthcare and other sectors considered essential to the state’s growth and development.
Governor Fubara’s assent marks the completion of the legislative process, paving the way for the full implementation of the 2026 budget by the Rivers State Government.
The budget was initially presented to the State House of Assembly by the Governor on July 10, 2026, after which it underwent legislative debate and scrutiny before being passed.
With the Governor’s assent, the ₦1.854 trillion Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development has become the official financial blueprint guiding Rivers State’s programmes and activities for the 2026 fiscal year.
