The Konibo-ye-Awanta Tobin Youth Association (KYA) has described a statement by the Finima Youth Congress against the planned protest by Bonny Kingdom as “a funny content creation”.
This was contained in a statement by the KYA on Monday, January 13, 2025 signed by its Secretary General, Gift Tobin, and Public Relations Officer, Young Tobin, and made available to Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.
The KYA stated that there was no invasion of Finima as it is one of the communities in Bonny Kingdom instead the leadership of the Kingdom is agitating for the collective progress and development of the area.
The statement is reproduced below:
“Our attention has been drawn to an online frivolous funny content creation by the so-called Finima Youth Congress. That they are advising Bonny Chiefs Council and Bonny youths not to invade Finima.
We wish to state that Nobody is invading Finima community rather Bonny kingdom which Finima is part of is taken the bull by the horn to bring about the progress that is due Bonny kingdom, Finima inclusive and we from Finima community are fully aware of this process.
If there is any loss of life, destabilization, disruption or destruction of property in Finima, then the Finima Youth congress should be held responsible because what Bonny kingdom is calling for is a peaceful and safe protest that would bring good to the kingdom.
We want to advise that we all join hands to make Bonny kingdom which includes Finima community great.
We Want to also call on all the law enforcement agencies to watch for these bad eggs in Finima community planning to cause problems as they have been instructed and instigated by their pay masters to do so.”
A kingdom-wide peaceful protest by Bonny Kingdom which findings by Kristina Reports indicate aimed at shutting down Bonny Island including the project sites of the various multinationals in the area is billed for Monday, January 13, 2025.
