Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the people of the state to remain united, peaceful and committed to the service of God for the continued development of Rivers State.
Governor Fubara made the call on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at an Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Rebisi, Port Harcourt, to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Represented by his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma-Odu, the Governor urged Rivers people to continue praying for peace, unity and progress, stressing the need for the people to remain united and speak with one voice.
He said dedication to God and unity among the people would contribute significantly to the development and prosperity of the state.
Governor Fubara also prayed for continued peace in Rivers State and expressed optimism that the state would record greater developmental achievements.
Meanwhile in his sermon, the Dean of the Church of Nigeria, Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta and Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, Most Reverend Blessing Enyindah, urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the challenges confronting the country.
Drawing from Isaiah 49:14-15, Archbishop Enyindah said the Biblical assurance of God’s unfailing love and remembrance remained relevant to Nigeria.
He declared that God had not forgotten Nigeria and Nigerians, urging citizens to examine their character, uphold honesty and integrity, improve productivity and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The cleric stressed that Nigerians must play their part in building a better country while maintaining faith and hope in the nation’s future.
