In 2023, the Akwa Ibom chef kept the world on their toes as she embarked on an attempt to break the record for the world’s longest cooking exercise by an individual.
The cook-a-thon, as we all knew, drew the attention of all and sundry as Hilda through the support of fans, government and brands, broke that record and became a Guinness World Record Holder for the longest cooking marathon an individual.

Three years down the lane, she is at it again. This time, with the aim of cooking the world’s biggest jollof pot. One may want to ask what the drive behind this may be.
Let’s recall that in 2019, a Ghanaian team of cooks embarked on a journey to prepare a big pot of Jollof using a custom fabricated pot.
The exercise which drew lots of criticisms from members of the public, who gave concerns ranging from hygiene issue, to the poor coordination of the team, was not acknowledged by Guinness and therefore, no certification was given.
Earlier on this year, after three years of gaining her first certificate plaque from Guinness, Hilda Baci decides to embark on another intriguing challenge of cooking a 6 meter by 6 meter radius pot of Jollof.

While speaking on the announcement earlier, she said the event was inspired by the dream of making something that connects everyone.
Since Jollof is a delicacy that is common among countries in West Africa, she thought it wise to use this to express her love for cooking and show how the act of cooking can be a tool for national integration.
So far, attempt, which is taking place at Eko Hotels and Suites, has brought together over 10,000 spectators, multiple media houses and celebrities to cheer the chef and her team into another successful story.
While we watch, while the world watches, let’s wish the chef well as she steers not just a big pot of Jollof, but also our wonder and awe into yet another breath taking moment that puts Nigeria on a global stage again.
