In a decisive victory against rising urban crime, operatives of Operation Crush Sectors 2 and 3 in Aba, Abia State have apprehended a notorious robbery suspect, 32-year-old Success Anyanwu.
Operation Crush, a joint task force comprising operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and other security agencies, was launched by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, two years ago to tackle insecurity in the State.

The arrest took place at about 1:20am on Friday, April 25, 2025, in front of a car stand opposite Abia Hotels along the Aba-Owerri Road, Aba North Local Government Area.
The breakthrough followed multiple complaints from commercial sex workers in the area, who reported that Anyanwu, under the guise of a customer, habitually lured them during late hours and robbed them at gunpoint while operating a motorcycle.
Acting swiftly on the information, Operation Crush operatives moved in and captured Anyanwu before he could escape.
During preliminary interrogation, Anyanwu, who resides at 1 Dike Close off C.O. Emeka Street, World Bank Abayi, Osisioma LGA, confessed to a series of robberies.
Items recovered from him included a gold-colored Toyota Camry (registration number Rivers KRK 958 HG), three solar lights, a red jacket, a bottle of herbal mixture, two wraps of Indian hemp, a yellow lighter, approximately ₦180,400 in cash, an Infinix Android phone, and a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone.

Further investigations revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra was linked to an armed carjacking incident reported on April 24, 2025, where a Toyota Harrier was stolen from Barrister Peter Ikechukwu Osita at 11 Ishiagu Street, off Umuode Road, Aba.
Anyanwu admitted to purchasing the smartphone and other items from a known associate identified only as “Ifeanyi,” at a drug hub in the Bakassi area along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Osisioma Ngwa LGA.
A known ex-convict, Anyanwu has since been transferred to the Police Scissors Unit along Emelogu Road, Aba South LGA, for further investigation.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend his alleged accomplice, Ifeanyi, who remains at large.
The Abia State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime and called on residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information.
