How Teenage Girl Was Recovered in the Home of Enugu Native Doctor, Two Decomposing Bodies Discovered in Soakaway

A wave of horror and outrage has gripped Umuojor village in Umumba Ndiagu, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State following the shocking discovery of two decomposing bodies inside the soakaway pit of a native doctor, identified as Levi  Obieze, popularly known as Ezeani, and also referred to as ‘E de play, e de show’.

The chilling discovery unfolded after a young girl was abducted on Monday while accompanying her father to the farm. According to a village eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity, the assailants used deception to carry out the abduction.

“The little girl was walking with her father to the farm on Monday when two men riding on a motorcycle stopped and pretended that their motorcycle had developed faults,” the witness recounted.

“One of the men told the father of the little girl to please help them with his cutlass to use and fix the fault in the motorcycle, which the man obliged. They said the fault would require pushing the bike and begged him to help. It was in this process that one of the men grabbed the girl and jumped onto the motorcycle, and they zoomed off.”

Alarmed, the father raised an alarm, prompting the local vigilante group to launch a search operation. Later that evening, villagers reported hearing loud cries from a nearby bush.

“Following the sound, the search party located the child inside the soakaway pit within the compound of the flamboyant native doctor,” the witness said.

The native doctor reportedly attempted to stop the vigilante team from entering his compound, but they overpowered him, stormed the premises, and successfully rescued the abducted girl.

A further search of the compound led to a grisly discovery: two decomposing corpses were found in the same soakaway pit. One of the victims was identified as a pregnant woman.

It was also revealed that the suspect, who is notorious in the area for his ostentatious display of wealth and frequent spraying of money at public functions, is currently on the run along with his four wives. Security agencies have since launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

In response to the gruesome incident, several key government officials, including the Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Vita Ndu; the member representing Ezeagu Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chima Obieze; and the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, have visited the crime scene.

Acting on the directive of the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, the Council Chairman commenced the demolition of the suspect’s properties on Tuesday as part of a broader effort to restore public confidence and assert the government’s zero-tolerance stance on violent crimes.

Authorities also confirmed the arrest of two individuals alleged to have carried out kidnappings on behalf of the native doctor.

The suspects, apprehended by the local vigilante group, are currently in police custody as investigations intensify.
