INEC Gears Up for 2027, Registers 76,534 Voters in Akwa Ibom During First CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered 76,534 voters in Akwa Ibom State during the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which ended on December 10, 2025.
According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Obo Effanga, the registration exercise, which took place between August 25 and December 10, 2025 was aimed at updating the voter register and ensuring that eligible citizens are registered to vote.

Speaking with Kristina Reports on the next steps, Effanga said, “From December 15 to 21, we shall display the interim list of voters to allow for claims and objections.
The second phase of the registration will start on January 5, 2026.”


The CVR exercise is part of INEC’s efforts to ensure that the electoral register is updated and accurate, and to provide citizens with the opportunity to participate in the electoral process that will culminate with the gneral elections in 2027.
