INEC Warns Against Fake Online Voter Registration Website

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has warned Nigerians against what it describes as a fraudulent website circulating online with claims that the Commission has announced a new date for nationwide online voter registration.

In a public notice released on Saturday October 3rd, 2026, INEC identified the website, tinyurl.com/inecnigeria-cvr-org, as fake and said it has no affiliation with the Commission.

The electoral body cautioned members of the public against clicking on the link or submitting personal information through the website, warning that such action could expose sensitive data to harvesting or misuse.

INEC clarified that the nationwide voter registration exercise closed on July 26, 2026, dismissing claims that a new online registration exercise is currently ongoing through the fraudulent website.
The Commission urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify electoral information through its official communication channels.

INEC said members of the public can contact its Call Centre on 0700-CALL-INEC, or use its short code 4632 for enquiries.
It also advised Nigerians to rely on information published through its official website, www.inecnigeria.org, and News Portal, www.inecnews.com.
