Khana LG Chairman Breaks Down at Home of Murdered Protocol Aide

Following the gruesome murder of the Khana Local Government Chairman’s Protocol Aide, Philip Barikui, and another resident of the area, Barikpe Barimamma, in Maakoro Street, Bori, on Monday, the Council Chairman has paid an official condolence visit to the deceased’s family.

The LG Chairman, Thomas Bariere, who was at the home of his deceased aide on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 was visibly seen overtaken with emotion as he managed to sign the condolence register, pledging to not rest until the perpetrators were apprehended and brought to book.

Consoling the bereaved members of the victim’s family, Bariere recounted the personal bond he shared with his aide, Philip, while offering words of comfort to his surviving mother.

“Madam, I don’t know who will console who. Philip is your biological son, but I met Philip and my spirit, body and soul accepted Philip, and I can tell you that Philip is my son. In the killing of Philip, I am the one they have killed,” he lamented.

In a consolatory prayer, the Council Chairman pleaded for divine comfort for the family members as well as the entire people of Khana Local Government area, and also for the exposure of those behind the killings through the efforts of security agencies in order for justice to be served.

At the family house of the second victim, Barikpe Barimamma, Bariere regretted that the deceased eventually died after initial news had it that he was yet alive, having been severely injured in the attack.

“When I was informed that Barikpe Barimamma was still alive, I ordered that he be taken to the hospital immediately. I met up with them and did everything medically required for him to live, but unfortunately, we lost him,” he narrated.

He further assured the family of his administration’s resolve to ensure the blood of their slain son does not go in vain, asserting that it is too great a sacrifice to be overlooked.

“As a government, we assure the family of Barikpe that the death of Barimamma will not go in vain. No responsible government will see that type of thing and fold its arms. Bariere Thomas will not rest until those who perpetrated this criminal act are brought to justice.”

The Khana Chief Executive made his final stop at the scene of the incident and inspected the surrounding, expressing deep emotions over the tragedy while describing the situation as a setback to ongoing security initiatives and an assault on the administration.

This last tragic incident has left the entire Khana communities in a tense atmosphere as residents within the area continue to wonder what is going on and who may be the next victim of another violent attack.
