The Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, DSSRS, JP, Edward I, Perekule XI, alongside experts in employment, skills development and recruitment management, is set to headline the pioneer Town Hall Meeting on Employment Matters in Bonny, Rivers State.
Legal luminary, Edward Pepple, skills-gap development and workplace-spectrum expert, Dr. Bara Kabaka Brown, among others, will join the Bonny monarch at the event, which is being hosted by the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple.
Organised by the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), the event will hold on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Queen Kambasa Hall, along King William Dappa Pepple Road, Bonny, Rivers State.
A statement by the BIRC Public Relations Officer, Godswill Hart, said the Town Hall Meeting, scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., is expected to bring together key stakeholders, youths, indigenes, residents and other invited participants.
According to Hart, the core objective of the meeting is to provide a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on employment-related issues and chart a new course for skills development, transparent recruitment and sustainable employment opportunities in Bonny.
Speaking with Kristina Reports on Monday, August 31, 2026, the Chairman of BIRC, Adawari Jumbo, said the Town Hall Meeting was the outcome of a new thinking by the Centre’s leadership to reimagine and recalibrate the employment spectrum in Bonny.
Jumbo said the engagement would provide an opportunity to review existing employment parameters, contemporary workplace requirements and emerging trends in the world of work, as well as explore how Bonny residents could become purpose-fit, future-ready and competitive in the employment market.
He described the engagement as an opportunity to advance the “Bonny Employment Blueprint,” with emphasis on skills development, transparent recruitment processes and sustainable employment.
According to him, the initiative is also aligned with the vision of the Bonny monarch to significantly reduce unemployment in the Kingdom.
“The vision of His Majesty to reduce unemployment to its barest minimum has to be achieved,” he said.
The BIRC urged the general public, stakeholders, youths, indigenes, residents and all invited participants to attend and contribute to the conversation around employment in Bonny.
