Port Harcourt’s comedy industry has taken a giant leap onto the global stage as renowned comedian and show promoter, K.O. Baba, teams up with international tech brand Sollong Web3 Phone for the 2026 edition of his flagship event, “The Mayor of Pitakwa”.
The announcement, made on July 6, 2025, in Port Harcourt in a press briefing, marks a major milestone in the city’s growing entertainment sector.

With this partnership, Port Harcourt is positioning itself as a new hub for world-class comedy, driven be local talent but powered by global ambition.
K.O. Baba, born in Akwa Ibom but raised in Diobu, shared the deeply personal journey behind the brand.
“I started this dream from the streets of Diobu, I was just stepping out, attending events, sometimes I would tell them I’m a committee, Can I perform, people would not answer me, but I got to a point where I said I want to create my own show, Today, we are building something global from right here in Port Harcourt”.

The comedian revealed that the Mayor of Pitakwa show now draws international attention, with tickets selling out in advance and halls packed to capacity.
For 2026, the theme will be “The Mayor and the 12 Kings” with comedians selected from 12 cities across Nigeria. The event will be streamed live from these cities, turning a single-day Easter Monday event into a two-day comedy experience.
According to K.O. Baba, preparations have started nine months ahead to allow for bold innovations like streaming, advanced ticketing, and major publicity.
“We are not just hosting a show; we are creating a movement. We will stream across 12 cities, use over 200 billboards, and ensure every sponsor gets massive visibility”.
He emphasised his commitment to promoting Port Harcourt talents, saying 80% of the featured comedians will always be from the local scene. “You don’t have to move to Lagos to make it. I’m proving that greatness can start from your backyard.”
The headline sponsor, Sollong Web3 Phone, is bringing a unique tech edge to the show. Their flagship phone, reportedly valued up to N7.2 million, is designed to earn users daily income by leasing unused phone space through blockchain technology.
Chief Executive Officer of Crypto Consulting Ltd and representative of Sollong, Solomon Esor said the decision to partner with Mayor of Pitakwa was inspired by video clips of massive PH crowds.

“Most mayors in the U.S. end up as governors and presidential hopefuls. The ‘Mayor’ brand carries weight, and K.O. Baba’s name rings even beyond Nigeria”.
Product Manager, Eremi Ene, described the phone as one that “pays you 1% of its purchase cost daily for life,” linking its tech to Invidia and the Web3 revolution.

Co-partner Dorcas Okah also testified to the phone’s benefits, assuring it was more than just hype.
The press briefing also featured top creatives who praised the show’s economic impact, a fellow comedian, Mudiaga Ogheneovo said K.O. Baba is a workaholic who never gets tired.
“He did 100 billboards in 2025 and is planning 200 for the next show. It’s massive.”
Nia’bari Fakae, Creative Director of Oxygen Ivy, Nia’bari highlighted the value chain the show brings.

“From vendors to media, designers to investors, this is a show that spreads wealth.”
K. O. Baba noted that despite setbacks like COVID-19, which once forced a cancellation and led to heavy debts, K.O. Baba pressed on.
He repaid investors and rebuilt the brand stronger. Today, sponsors chase him, not the other way round. “Now, we only accept clean, credible sponsors”.
