What started as a personal milestone has now turned into a national celebration as Nigerian broadcaster George Iniabasi Essien, better known as Mighty George, is officially confirmed by Guinness World Records as the new holder of the Longest Marathon Hosting a Radio Talk Show, reaching a jaw-dropping 105 hours on air.
Broadcasting live from Comfort 95.1FM in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, George kicked off his historic run at midnight on Sunday, April 27, and signed off at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

That’s over four days straight of non-stop conversations, interviews, music, and audience engagement. without missing a beat.
The previous record was 88 hours, set by Japan’s Taishi Masuoka. But George didn’t just break it, he crushed it with an additional 17 hours.
For George, this wasn’t just about chasing a title. With over two decades in the broadcasting game, he wanted to do something bigger than himself.
“This is not just about setting a record,” he said. “It’s about showing what passion, preparation, and purpose can do.”
As soon as Guinness made the confirmation official, the news spread like wildfire. From radio fans in Uyo to media circles across Lagos and Abuja, Nigerians celebrated the win like it was theirs. Social media platforms buzzed with hashtags, memes, and heartfelt messages of congratulations.
Despite the grueling nature of the challenge, Mighty George stayed sharp throughout the broadcast welcoming guests, driving conversations, and keeping his energy up like a pro.
His performance was a masterclass in stamina and showmanship, which comes as no surprise as he was named Nigeria’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2023.
With his name now permanently in the Guinness World Records, George Iniabasi Essien hasn’t just raised the bar, he’s shown that dreams backed by discipline can echo far beyond the studio.
His win is more than a personal victory; it’s a bold statement from Nigeria’s creative and media community to the world.
