Lawyers representing Ghanaian actress and fashion personality Rosemond Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua, have said a domestic-dispute matter involving her family is now with the appropriate authorities.
The law firm, Nkrabeah & Associates, made the position known in a statement dated Tuesday, October 6, 2026, after videos involving Akuo and her children circulated on social media, while the Ghana Police Service separately confirmed an ongoing investigation into allegations of physical, emotional and economic abuse.

The lawyers said their attention had been drawn to what they described as “several harrowing videos” showing their client and her children caught up in a domestic dispute.
According to the statement, the videos were allegedly leaked without Akuo’s knowledge or consent and amounted to what the lawyers described as a deep violation of her privacy and that of her children, whom they said are minors.
The lawyers appealed to media organisations and members of the public not to publish or share the videos, particularly footage involving a minor.

“We humbly request that all media houses refrain from publishing and sharing the videos especially the ones showing the abuse of a minor,” the lawyers said.
The legal team said the matter was “currently sub judice and in the hands of the appropriate authorities,” meaning that it was already subject to official proceedings and should not be treated as a matter for public determination.
The lawyers also appealed for responsible reporting, saying the dispute involved young children whose mental wellbeing needed to be protected.
They said the family was already dealing with what they described as enough trauma and asked the media and public to respect their privacy while the matter was being handled.
The lawyers further expressed appreciation for what they described as the timely intervention of the Ghana Police Service and said they were confident in the country’s court system.
“We are grateful for the timely intervention and responsiveness of Ghana Police and are confident in the competence of our court systems to stand up against domestic violence in our society,” the statement said.
The legal team said Addo would address the issues involved in the matter at the appropriate time.
“At the appropriate time our client will address all pertinent issues,” the lawyers said, while asking the media and general public to respect the family’s privacy.
The Ghana Police Service subsequently provided details of the investigation in a statement dated Wednesday, October 7, 2026, confirming that Addo had petitioned the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
According to the police, Akuo alleged in the petition that her husband, Harold Norman, had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse, allegations which remain subject to investigation and have not been established as facts by a court.
Police said preliminary investigations also showed that a matter involving the couple had previously been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Following the August petition, police said Norman was arrested at his residence on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to assist with investigations.
The police said Norman subsequently provided a caution statement before being granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on Saturday, August 29, 2026, while investigations continued.
Police said Norman was scheduled to appear before a court on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, but investigators were informed by his lawyer that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to appear.
The police said investigators from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit visited the hospital to verify the reported admission.
“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” the police said.
The police therefore said the planned court appearance had not taken place as scheduled and that Norman would be arraigned after his discharge from hospital.
The Criminal Investigations Department is also working with the ministry responsible for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that social-welfare support is provided to Addo and the children.
The development means that the allegations circulating online are now part of an official investigative process, rather than matters that can be conclusively determined from the videos and photographs circulating on social media.
Norman’s legal representatives have separately disputed the narrative surrounding the circulated material and presented a different account of the circumstances behind some of the injuries shown in the footage, including an allegation that one injury dates to a 2021 incident.
Those counter-allegations have not been independently established and should not be treated as findings of fact.
With the police investigation continuing and court proceedings yet to take place, the circumstances surrounding the alleged domestic abuse remain matters for the relevant authorities and, where applicable, the courts to determine.
