Navy Raids Drug Dens, Recover Large Cache of Suspected Illicit Substances in Bonny

The Nigerian Navy has recovered assorted suspected illicit drugs and other items during raids on Desert Forest adjacent to Coal Beach, and the Hausa Quarters axis of Sandfield Community in Bonny, Rivers State.

The operation, which was a fallout of deterrence and fighting patrols, was conducted at about 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

The team made up of personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny Special Forces, comprising the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (NNS SBS) and other operatives.

According to the FOB Bonny, the team deployed two patrol vehicles and conducted deterrence and fighting patrols from the base towards the Coal Beach waterside and jetty to strengthen security presence across Bonny’s land and maritime domains.

On arrival, the operatives searched a settlement within a forested area along the waterfront, including several makeshift huts.

On sighting the operatives, a group of young men reportedly fled deeper into the bush as the team advanced.

The patrol subsequently extended to the general areas of Sandfield Community, including Hausa Quarters, where further searches were conducted following reports that suspected individuals had fled before the team arrived.

Items recovered during the operation included 14 pieces of Tramadol, 26 pieces of local weed, 489 small wraps of local weed, 40 pieces of a substance identified as “Loud,” four packs of “Rizzo,” 65 pieces of “Ice” and 64 pieces of “Eremo.”

Other recoveries comprised ₦2,050 in cash, an Intel mobile phone, two wristwatches, four brushes, 10 crochet pins and two pieces described in the operational report as “Bunker.”

Though, no arrests were made, the Navy said the patrol strengthened security presence around Coal Beach, Hausa Quarters and Desert Forest while disrupting suspected illicit drug-related activities.

The FOB Bonny said the recovered suspected illicit substances would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for appropriate action.

The operation underscores the continuing security efforts in Bonny to disrupt suspected criminal activities and maintain safer communities and waterways.
