The Nigerian Army’s 2026 Warrant Officers to Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board is ongoing at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Nonwa Gbam, Rivers State.
The three-week exercise for 6 Division runs from September 2 to September 22, 2026. The decision to host it at the Rivers NYSC camp was welcomed by leaders of the host communities and Tai Local Government.
On September 10, 2026, a delegation from the host area visited the camp. The team was led by Tomakara Nyiedam, traditional ruler of Nonwa Tai, and Mbakpone Okpe, chairman of Tai Local Government.
They were received by Everest Okoro, who is leading 6 Division. The visit was to identify with officers and soldiers participating in the promotion board.
Tomakara Nyiedam appreciated the army for the peaceful manner in which activities have been conducted so far. He said the community is proud the camp was chosen to host another national military event and thanked the soldiers for their service to the country.
He assured the troops of the cooperation and hospitality of Nonwa people throughout their stay, and wished all participants success in the exercise.
Mbakpone Okpe also commended the soldiers for discipline and adherence to rules. He urged them to sustain the standard, noting that it would contribute to their career progress.
Both leaders stated that the cordial relationship between the military, the host community, and Tai LGA has made the exercise smooth, and pledged continued support until it concludes.
