No Battle Is Bigger Than God – Rivers Assembly Speaker Declares, Says Political Victories Are Divinely Orchestrated
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo has declared that no challenge, no matter how daunting, can surpass the power of God.
Oko-Jumbo made this declaration on Sunday, November 17, 2024 while addressing congregants at the harvest thanksgiving service of St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Oro-Igwe District and The Potter’s House Chapel, Anglican Communion, Rumukalagbor, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Stephen Banigo, disclosed that the Speaker urged Rivers people to embrace peace.
He said peace in the State was critical for development to take place irrespective of distractions, reaffirming the focus of the current State Assembly under his watch on delivering quality legislative service.
Oko-Jumbo said that the battles against his administration as Speaker, may not be entirely over but he was more focused on delivering quality legislative service to the people of Rivers State, reiterating the need for all to embrace peace as a pathway to entrenching good governance.
“Our mandate is to work with our people under the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to transform our State and communities to a level where we can secure, and enjoy the greatest standards of security, peace and prosperity from the responsible and responsive management of our collective God-given resources.
“One thing we can’t take away is that God does not make any mistake. Whatever happens, and when it happens, it is for a purpose, which is why we must embrace God in appreciation at all times.”
He, therefore, encouraged the congregation to put the Government of Rivers State in prayers, and cultivate the habit of thanksgiving to appreciate God who enables them to rise by grace to leadership positions and accomplish greater feats.
The Church in Oro-Igwe which is also the hometown of a former Speaker of the Assembly, also conferred the Leader of Light Award on Oko-Jumbo in recognition of his outstanding service to God and excellent impact to humanity.
