Contrary to reports in sections of the Media, there is no fire incident at any oil and gas facility in Bonny and Degema Local Government Areas of Rivers State, Kristina Reports has found.

Kristina Reports activated its due diligence capabilities early morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in response to several enquiries from sister media organizations and security agencies in that regard but found no evidence to the claim.

Chief and Head, Pollyn House, Bonny Kingdom, Wari-Alabo Bill Pollyn

Checks with several leaders of Iloamatoru Community, owners of Cawthorne Channel in Bonny LGA, as well as in Degema LGA, returned negative feedbacks.

In his response to a virtual enquiry by Kristina Reports, the Chief and Head of Pollyn Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom, Wari-Alabo Bill Pollyn, said “not to my knowledge”.

Also responding to another virtual enquiry from Kristina Reports, immediate past Chairman of the Iloamatoru Security Surveillance Committee, Daniel Pollyn said no such incident occurred anywhere around Cawthorne Channel.

One of the community members, who only identified himself as Pollyn, said “there is no such incident here in our area. No flow station or facility is on fire or had any explosion”.

Also, another member of community, who preferred anonymity given his role in the security arrangements in the area, said “if any such thing happened, we would have been the ones to reach you, of course. Nothing like that”.

Also, an official of one of the companies which has a facility in the area, told Kristina Reports offline that “no incident has been recorded in ay of our facility. We have checked and no such thing”.

Checks by Kristina Reports indicate that the unfortunate report may have originated from propaganda elements working for some political figures in the State who are keen on helping President Bola Tinubu justify the state of emergency imposed on the State.

Some lawyers have already thumbed down the state of emergency as being in breach of the constitution and calling for the President’s impeachment.
