The First Edition of the Grand Patrons Cup took place from 27 July to 30 July at River State University involving four chapters of the National Union of Bonny Students.

The four Chapters comprised Ignatius Ajuru University, Captain Elechi-Amadi Polytechnic, University of Port-Harcourt and Hosts; Rivers State University.

The competition saw Nubsites from various Universities come together. During the Kickoff, Matilda Allison advised all Nubsites to always work together and keep the Bonny flag flying and added that they should never forget their primary aim in school which is their academics.

NUBS National President, Ken-Banigo Kelly called on his successors to continue with the Grand Patrons Cup

“I hope the next President also sees reason to continue with the completion because asides all the School and everything, we also need to indulge in these exercises and competition, I hope the next President sees it as something he should continue”

When asked why he saw Sports as something of importance, the NUBS National President said

” There is one of my Uncles, if you ask him what does Kelly want to be, he will tell you -A goalkeeper. So I love sports that much, so I deemed it fit, seeing it as an avenue to bring students together. Sports brings everybody close”
