NWFL 25: Rivers Angels FC to Unveil New Coach, Jerseys, Ahead of Season

Seven-time Nigeria Women’s Football League Champions Rivers Angels Football Club will on Sunday, January 12, 2025, unveil new head coach, Tosan Blankson and the team’s full squad and jerseys for the upcoming 2024/25 season at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia.
Rivers Angels will officially begin their season on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, when they take on NWFL returnees Ibom Angels at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking via the club’s media platform, the Club’s General Manager, Matilda Otuene-Onyiloha, hammered on the importance of fan support and the desire to give supporters the opportunity to meet the players.
“This is a new chapter for Rivers Angels. We want our supporters to meet the players who will proudly wear the badge of Rivers State as the league begins on January 15, 2025. We deeply appreciate our fans and urge them to attend in large numbers on Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium. This unveiling is for them, and we look forward to celebrating with them at the stadium.”
The Jewels of Rivers will go into the season with a new coach, Tosan Blankson who joined the Port Harcourt based side in June, following the exit of Whyte Ogbonda to Bayelsa Queens. The experienced coach, who led Delta Queens to a first-ever unbeaten regular season in the history of the Nigera Women’s Football League which saw them win the 2023 NWFL title, will look to have a succesful time with Rivers Angels.
Rivers Angels will be gunning for an eight NWFL title when they begin their campaign on Wednesday in Group {B} which consists of: Rivers Angels FC; Ibom Angels FC; Adamawa Queens; Naija Ratels FC; Honey Badgers FC; FC Robo Queens; Bayelsa Queens FC and Delta Queens FC.
