Osklean FA Exit NWFL Nationwide 2026 Despite Victory Over Plateau Queens

Osklean FA put on a dominant display at the Enyimba International Stadium to defeat Plateau Queens 2-1 on Matchday Three, but a harsh mathematical twist ended up shattering their NWFL Nationwide 2026 promotion dreams.

Knowing that a two-goal victory was non-negotiable to seal progress, the Garden City ladies stormed out of the blocks in Aba.

The breakthrough arrived in the 28th minute when star forward Ijeoma Stephen latched onto a defense-splitting pass, artfully rounded her marker, and coolly bypassed the onrushing Eve Edebor to slot into an empty net.

The Jos ladies almost answered immediately through Flora Williams, but her strike rattled the side netting.

Just before the interval, the Port Harcourt outfit doubled their advantage in chaotic fashion—Ijeoma’s initial effort was parried, Philip Ozioma’s rebound was saved, and Chima Favour finally blasted the third attempt into the roof of the net to make it 2-0 at the break.

The second half turned into a nerve-wracking affair as the Jos babes fought back furiously.

After a few warning shots, Juliet Okoloko powered home a towering header from a corner kick to slash the deficit to 2-1.

The Garden City ladies threw everything forward in search of the crucial third goal, with Ijeoma coming agonisingly close after a dazzling solo run, only to be denied by an incredible trailing-leg save from Edebor.

Despite mounting relentless pressure with three late corner kicks in stoppage time, the final whistle blew on a dramatic 2-1 victory.

Although both teams finishing on 4 points, NWFL tiebreaker rules gave priority to overall goals scored. This meant Obosa FA advanced, even though their goal difference was the same (+1), with more goals conceded.

Obosa FA’s 3-2 victory over the Jos ladies gave them 3 goals scored in the group, whereas the Garden City outfit’s 2-1 win meant they finished with only 2 goals scored.

That single-goal disparity ultimately handed the qualification ticket to the Lagos side, leaving the PH-based contenders heartbroken despite winning on the day.
