Paris 2024: Ofili Cries Out after 100m Miss, Bemoans Lack of Disciplinary Action

Favour Ofili has cried out after missing out on the Women’s 100m races in the Paris 2024 Olympics which kicked off today, August 2, 2024, at the Stade de France.

The sprinter took to socials to express her dissatisfaction with the fact that no disciplinary action has been taken against the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) for their negligence which led to her not being entered for the event.

” Sadly, nothing has been done…. I’m yet to see or hear anyone is being punished for what the NOC and AFN did to me. Athletes shouldn’t be getting punished for things out of their control.”

” Who assigned federations and/or Olympic committees to enter athletes into Olympic Games? Is it World Athletics? If so, should they not hold them accountable when they fail to do their job by not entering athletes in events they qualify and want to compete? “

” NOC and AFN……….
This is not the first time you guys are doing this so don’t think this is over because is not.”

Rosemary Chukwuma and Tima Godbless ran in the Women’s 100m, as Ofili was forced to sit out.

Rosemary Chukwuma, finished third in lane five of heat five to progress to the semifinals with a time of 11.26, in what was not the most blistering of races for the Nigerian but was enough to outdo the others. While Nigeria’s second representative, Tima Godbless, finished sixth and crashed out, running in lane three of heat seven, with a time of 11.33, despite having a good start, but faltering at the finish.
