Prepare for Temporary Power Outage Due to System Upgrade at Bonny Terminal – BKDC Alerts Residents

The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC) says there will be temporary power outage in Bonny, Rivers State due to planned control system upgrade by Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited (RAEC) at the Bonny Oil And Gas Terminal (BOGT).  

The BKDC in a statement signed by its Chairman, Amairigha Hart, and Secretary, Victor Jumbo, however, clarified that the temporary power outage will only affect parts of Bonny Kingdom being supplied electricity from its facility.

According to the statement, the outage, which will occur on Thursday, July 24, Sunday, August 3, and Monday, August 4, 2025, is to enable the company carry out a Control System Upgrade at the BOGT.  

An abridged version of the statement is reproduced below:

“The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC), is in receipt of a communication from Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited notifying it that there will be a Temporary Power Outage in parts of Bonny Kingdom covered by the supply of electricity from its facility.

This outage which will occur on 24th July, 3rd August and 4th August 2025, is to enable the company carry out a Control System Upgrade at the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal (BOGT).  

Electricity consumers in Bonny Kingdom who will be affected by this temporary outage are hereby informed to kindly take note of this development and take necessary measures to adjust accordingly during the period stated. 

BKDC will maintain constant communication with the Company to ensure that the impact of electricity disruption during the referenced period is minimized as much as possible, and that steady supply of power is restored as soon as possible.”

The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC), which is currently chaired by Amairigha Hart, is the coordinating body for all things development in Bonny Kingdom.
