Rivers Angels Unveil New Coach, 14 Players, Jerseys Ahead of NWFL Season

Rivers Angels, on Sunday, January 12, unveiled new coach Tosan Blankson, aswell as 14 new players consisting of two goalkeepers, two defenders, four midfielders, and six attackers, and new home and away Jerseys at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
With the Nigeria Women Football League season scheduled to kick-off on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the management of the team thought it wise to not only do a virtual announcement of the Coach, Players, and jerseys, but to do a physical unveiling to give fans the opportunity to meet the players who will proudly wear the badge of Rivers State.
The Port Harcourt based side got the signatures of a new coach, Tosan Blankson and 14 new strong players, in a bid to strengthen their chase of the double the season – winning the league and defending their Federation Cup title.
In a stirring address during the unveiling, newly appointed Coach, Tosan Blackson expressed his gratitude to the management of Rivers Angels for believing in him and presenting him with the opportunity to lead the team, as he pledged to work tirelessly with the players to unlock their full potential.
” I want to thank the management fit believing in me and for giving me this great opportunity to serve the club. To the players, I promise to work tirelessly with you to unlock your full potential.”
The General Manager, Matilda Otuene-Onyiloha, in her speech, also at the unveiling, declared it a new dawn for Rivers Angels, as she promised supporters a wonderful season and sort their support.
” This is the beginning of a new dawn for Rivers Angels. For a very long time, we have not had the opportunity to showcase what we have before we kickstart the season, this has shown you that Rivers State has been the Hub for sports and it has come to set the pace and we are here to follow the pace already set by our counterparts the male team, she said…”
” Today we have the opportunity to unveil not just the coach, we are here to unveil the superstars that will be flying the flag for Rivers Angels this season. I want to assure every one of you, that come 2025 – remember our motto is victory all the way – with God being our helper, we want to assure that we are going to have a good and a very wonderful season.
” I also want go encourage everyone if us and to call on our supporters, please, we need your support, we want that massive support fr you and we want to assure you that on behalf of Rivers Angels we will fly the flag of Rivers State and we will never dissaoint. God bless everyone of you.”
The Jewels of Rivers will kick off their NWFL campaign against Ibom Angels on Saturday, January 15, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
