In the face of incessant fire outbreaks that have caused untold suffering for his people, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has moved to revamp the State Fire Service that has almost become moribund.
Fubara disclosed this on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 during the 2025 New Year State Banquet in Government House, Port Harcourt.

He stated that his administration will ensure that fire stations across the State carry out their responsibilities of mitigating fire incidents and factors that cause them.
He informed that the revamped fire stations have been fully equipped with brand new trucks and remodelled facilities to carry out their functions, chief of which, is to arrest any scene of inferno.
This development is coming after nine years of neglect to the department by the previous administration in the State.
In his announcement, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to mainstreaming infrastructural development across the State.
He added that the facilities will be commissioned in February 2025, as a way of boosting emergency response across the State.
