The Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command has relieved the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abuloma Division and the officer overseeing the Abuloma Police Outpost of their duties, pending an investigation into allegations that suspected cultists renovated the facility.
The Command also condemned the purported renovation, following a trending social media report and a circulating video alleging that the suspected cultists visited the outpost on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the project.

According to a press statement made available to journalists on Friday October 16, 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Agabe Blessing, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, had ordered a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify the allegations.
The investigation is expected to determine the identities of those who financed or facilitated the renovation, the officers who authorised the project, whether due procedures were followed, and whether any police personnel compromised the professional standards of the Force.
The Command, however, clarified that it welcomes legitimate community support for improving police facilities, in line with Section 26, Subsection 1(d) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which provides for gifts and contributions to the Police General Fund. It stressed that such assistance must not compromise police independence, professional standards or security, adding that donations do not confer immunity from investigation or prosecution.
The Command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on cultism, organised crime and unprofessional conduct, assuring that appropriate disciplinary and legal action would be taken against anyone found culpable. It urged residents to remain calm and support the Police with credible and timely information to strengthen security across Rivers State.
