Rivers State Sole Administrator Sacks Political Office Holders and Appointees

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, has announced the suspension of all political office holders and appointees in the state. 

In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, he specified that the suspension affects the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners, as well as Chairmen and Members of all Boards, Councils of Agencies, Commissions, Institutions, and Parastatals. 

Ibas further stated that the suspension takes immediate effect and directed all affected officials to handover to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective MDAs.

In cases where there is no Permanent Secretary, the most senior Director or Head of Administration is to assume responsibility.
