A press release dated Thursday September 11, 2026 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mina Tele-Ikuru, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Peters Nwagor, stated that the evaluation will be conducted by the State Education Quality Assurance Services (SEQAS).

According to Nwagor, the exercise is aimed at assessing the quality, effectiveness and overall performance of schools, while ensuring compliance with established educational standards, policies and regulations in Rivers State. He pointed out that the evaluation will focus on the following key areas of Outcomes for Learners; Quality of Provision, Impact of Leadership and Management, Annual Renewal of Registration Payments, as well as the Overall Effectiveness of Schools.

The Ministry further urges all schools to cooperate fully with the evaluation team and provide evaluators with the necessary assistance, facilities, records and information required for a comprehensive and effective assessment.

Nwagor emphasised that the exercise is part of the State Government’s continued commitment to strengthening quality assurance, promoting accountability, improving learning outcomes and ensuring that all schools in Rivers State provide a safe, effective and standard learning environment for every child.

He further instructed that all enquiries should be directed to the Director, State Education Quality Assurance Services (SEQAS), Rivers State Ministry of Education, Chinedu Wordu, at the Ministry’s temporary office located at Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt.
