Tems Sparks Relationship Speculation After Saying She’s ‘Off The Streets’

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has sparked relationship speculation after saying she has “left the streets” during a TikTok livestream.

Tems made the remark on Monday, September 14, 2026, while discussing her experiences with men and expressing frustration over relationships and interactions she considered a waste of her time.

She said she no longer has the problem of dealing with men who waste her time, adding that she had moved away from what she described as the “streets.”

“I don’t like it when guys waste my time,” Tems said, before adding that she had “left the streets.”

She also appeared to distance herself from the suggestion that she had previously been actively involved in the dating scene, saying, “I wouldn’t even say I was ever on the streets.”

The comment quickly drew attention from fans and followers, with speculation centring on whether the statement referred to a new romantic relationship or simply reflected a decision to step away from dating experiences she found unproductive.

Tems, however, did not identify a partner, announce a relationship or provide details linking the statement to a particular person during the livestream.

The phrase “off the streets” is commonly used in Nigerian social conversations to describe someone who is no longer searching for love or has entered a committed relationship, although Tems did not expressly state that she was announcing either.

Her latest comments come against the backdrop of previous discussions about her experiences with men and her desire for more genuine connections rather than relationships driven mainly by physical attraction.

For now, the singer’s “left the streets” declaration remains open to interpretation, with the relationship speculation coming from her wording rather than any direct confirmation of a new romance.
